The Need for SAN
For years, Somali educators have faced numerous challenges, including limited access to professional development, scarce networking opportunities, outdated teaching resources, and difficulty in finding job opportunities. Recognizing these gaps, a group of passionate education professionals and industry leaders came together to create a comprehensive solution – the Somali Academic Network (SAN).
Our Journey
2020: The idea for SAN was conceived during an educational conference discussing Somalia’s education challenges.
2021: Initial development of the platform began, with input from educators, school administrators, and policymakers.
2022: SAN officially launched as a pilot project with an initial membership of 500 educators.
2023-Present: SAN has grown into a nationwide platform, connecting thousands of Somali educators, institutions, and stakeholders.
